Till the Day

I have not been totally happy with the guitar sound, so I decided I need some new gear. Having read some recording forums and reviews I ended up with a cheap ribbon mic and a simple tube preamp.

The guitars and vocals are recorded with the new mic and the bass is straight from the preamp. It clearly makes a difference, but as the technical quality increases my lack of guitar skills are even more so revealed. I lost count on how many takes it took to get the guitar tracks down. And there are still plenty of misses...

When it comes to mixing I have been experimenting with lookahead limiter and different reverbs. And mastering can destroy even a decent mixing. I am way too heavy handed with Jamin so I have spent uneccessary time to find out that less is more.
